Monte’s Steak House Story:
A culinary classic

It was just a dream in 2004, a year after my daughter Madison started school at Shattuck-St. Mary’s on top of the hill here in Faribault.  I was captivated by the great 150 year old masonry building as it sat idle in the historic downtown. I inherited an appreciation for great architecture and old school masonry because of my early upbringing. My Dad owned a masonry/concrete business back in New York. Starting at the tender age of 14 as a coffee boy on Saturdays, then summertime employment, then eventually as a union mason tender.  I worked for my Dad throughout the 5 Boroughs.

Fast-forward to 2004 while following the dream, I was challenged with complications and hurdles. Obviously falling down a few times, but with determination to get back up, I earned the nickname Rocky from a dear friend. Ironically, growing up back in Brooklyn, I had an Uncle Rocky.  The passion outlasted the adversities and the project continued to move ahead and was starting to take shape.

One proud moment was naming the restaurant. Before the inception of the investors, the staff, the Chef, or anything else, the restaurant needed to have a name. I needed something new, fresh, and inspirational. Then it came to me, why not go back to where it all began, my daughters. The youngest being Montana, we like to call her Monte. There I was at the beginning of a great adventure and the dream really began to take shape.

In 2007, a few years later; a multi-million dollar project,  13 investors, 40 plus staff members and a hometown local favorite Executive Head Chef Michael White, I am blessed to say “we did it.”  
Today I am proud to invite you, your family, friends and business associates to a great experience here at Monte’s.

It’s not just a restaurant
With 3 floors of finished space, Monte’s has become a triplex of entertainment.  The Madison Ballroom is an elegant scene with rich maroon colors, original hardwood floors and comes equipped with a sound system. Monte’s can now hold corporate meetings, seminars, wedding receptions, graduations, retirement parties or any type party you can think of.  The room can hold any size group from 25 - 200+ guests. Now you can “wow” your friends, family or colleagues during your next event.

Monte’s Underground with the feel of an old school jazz lounge will help you unwind after a long day at the office or help you get the ball rolling for a hot night on the town. Our caring staff are dedicated to making your adventure fun, relaxing and pleasurable.
